Markham is really two deck-building worlds. In Unionville and Old Markham, the streets carry heritage character — mature trees, older homes, and in the conservation district, an expectation that what you build should look like it belongs. A deck there should whisper, not shout: natural cedar tones, classic railing lines, proportions that respect the house.
Drive ten minutes to Cornell, Berczy or Angus Glen and the brief flips. These are newer two-storey homes, many with raised basement walkouts, where the kitchen door can sit a full flight above the lawn. The design language is different — crisp composite boards, black aluminum railings, wide modern stairs — and the engineering matters more, because the deck starts high and the yard often slopes away beneath it.
DECKLAB builds in both worlds. What never changes is the starting point: we design around your house, your lot and your street — not from a template.
